MEET THE BOLD TEAM
Executive Director
Jana Ehrenfeld
A native of Czech Republic, Jana came to North Carolina after finishing her education in Brno, CZ. Jana met her husband Chris in 2006 in Chapel Hill. Since then, Chris and Jana have been on an incredible journey - including the birth of their twin boys in 2012! Jana's desire to help others has been apparent throughout this journey. When Chris and Jana got married, rather than accepting gifts for themselves, they chose to raise funds to fulfill the wish of a young girl with cancer and sent her to Disney World.
Jana and Chris’s home is usually bustling with activity. Their twin boys, Max and Mason, keep levity and a sense of wonder at the forefront. Jana relishes the time spent outdoors with Chris and the boys - constructing tree forts, building bonfires, hiking trails, and enjoying outdoors is part of their DNA. The newest addition to the family is Rocky, a Mini Labradoodle who adds furry cuteness to the mix! Jana loves to travel and cherishes weekend get-aways to the NC coast or heading west to the Appalachian mountains.
Jana and the beginning of BOLD Foundation: In 2016, when the boys started Pre-K, Jana realized there were numerous underserved and vulnerable children at the school. She started buying books and school supplies; boxes of snacks and classroom items awaiting drop-off to teachers became commonplace filling her living room. Further, as the months grew colder, winter temperatures exposed the fact some students were lacking adequate clothing and jackets for the frigid weather.
During the holidays that year, the Ehrenfelds heard the school was only able to find donors to purchase gifts for 30 of the 117 families in need and discovered the school was ready to tell the other 87 other families they would not be able to help. Jana jumped into action offering to buy holiday gifts for the remaining 87 kids and personally shopped for every child's wish list. Jana gifted them warm coats, hats, and gloves along with surprise Christmas presents. Thus, out of Jana’s desire for children to thrive in life, BOLD Foundation was conceived.
Fast forward: BOLD Foundation has formalized and expanded to reach and regularly serve the wider community of Chatham and Orange Counties. Jana continues to be the heartbeat and driving force to help, serve, and care for others - especially children.
